Music Director: develops the ministry of music and is responsible for leading and encouraging the congregation, praise team, choirs, instrumentalists, and dance in worship of God through music.
He/she shall provide leadership with the assistance of the Worship Team in selecting songs that coordinate with the scripture or theme for the worship service along with the liturgical calendar (Advent, Lent, Palm Sunday, Easter, and Pentecost).

Qualifications

· Be a gifted and Spirit-filled congregational worship music leader who is comfortable with all styles of worship.
· Must be familiar with spirituals, gospel music, hymns, anthems, and contemporary worship music & styles.
· Must be able to read music and/or play by ear on either the piano (keyboard) or organ.
· Preferably a bachelor’s degree or related prior church music ministry experience.
· Desire to improve as a musician/choir director by attending workshops (vocal, choral conducting, or music administration).
Responsibilities: Plan, coordinate, direct, and lead weekly worship services of the church
· Pray and seek God’s direction for worship
· Work with the Intergenerational Task Force, Worship Team, and Pastor in planning worship services that glorify God.
· Develop worship theme based on preaching schedule that governs the selection of music to build upon that theme.
· Promote creative alternatives to engage the congregation in worship (integrate new songs in the church’s song repertoire).
· Develop both short term (weekly rehearsal schedule) and long term (monthly or quarterly schedule) that is consistent with all groups: Praise Team, Adult Choir, and Instrumentalists.
· Be present at the church no later than 8:45 on Sunday mornings to oversee set-up, sound check, and a final run through before the 10 AM service.
· Be prepared to rehearse with the Praise Team, choir, or instrumentalists on Sunday morning by 9:15 in order to have all music members in place for the 10 AM service.
· Work with the Pastor and Technology Team in ensuring that the lyrical presentations for Sunday morning worship are correct, whether in Power Point or printed materials.
· Arrange for the care and maintenance of the organ, piano, and other instruments on a semi-annual basis.
· Arrange for appropriate music for the times when not present for worship.
· Provide music for weddings and funerals as requested.
· Review material with the Worship Team and Ministry Board the goal of purchasing a copyright licensing.
· Participate in all Worship Team meetings and provide a written report to keep the Ministry Board fully informed concerning music ministry.
Special Events: plan and coordinate special worship events, concerts, and ministry events in coordination with other pastoral staff members and ministry team leaders.

Supervision: The Ministry Board has delegated authority to the Worship Team as providing guidance & support.
Compensation
This is a part-time position consisting of 10-15 hours per week; salary commensurate with experience and education.
